Special Event: Complimentary Play Reading of Frankie’s Market | Quotidian Theatre Company

Following last Sunday’s successful presentation of Steve LaRocque’s Byline: Ernie Pyle, we’re pleased to invite our audience to another special event during our critically-acclaimed run of Brian Friel’s Dancing at Lughnasa! At 5pm this coming Sunday, May 6, Quotidian Theatre Company presents a complimentary play reading of Frankie’s Market by Raphael Falco.

From top: Beall, Dubov, Russell

Frankie’s Market is closing down and two vendors — one who deals in men’s oversize jeans, the other in antique toys — are packing up their stalls. Their dialogue is alternately cruel and nostalgic, taunting and kind. This new one-act play by Raphael Falco is a surprising exploration of human hope and connection that exposes the twisted significance the lonely assign to even the most casual exchanges.

This is a free event followed by a talkback discussion with the playwright. General admission; no reservations are required.

Featuring performances from audience favorites and Quotidian mainstays Steve Beall (Shining City, The Seafarer, Port Authority, The Mollusc), David Dubov (Dancing at Lughnasa, The Cherry Orchard, The Seafarer, The Trip to Bountiful, Captain Drew on Leave), and Laura Russell (Dancing at Lughnasa, Shining City, The Cherry Orchard, The Trip to Bountiful, Dublin Carol, The Mollusc).

Directed by nationally-noted dramaturg and scholar Dr. Michele Osherow, with Quotidian co-founder and artistic director Jack Sbarbori.

Held at The Writer’s Center: 4508 Walsh Street, Bethesda, MD 20815. There is ample parking across the street (free on weekends), and the theatre is just blocks away from the Bethesda Metro Station on the red line.
